Web Browsers
For years I have wished that Konqueror was the web browser that would do all I wanted. It never has been and I have always had to look to third party browsers. I am sure it comes as no surprise that FireFox and Opera have been the major contenders. But, both have not been quite right.
FireFox is a pig resource-wise and more recently a buggy pig. While th issues may be mostly Java-related it still has been less than perfect. I have always prefered Opera but it usually has a problem with at least one web site that is critical to me. A more recent but stranger problem has been that if I run Opera with turbo enabled (starting in version 11) my router hangs. While I can only blame the router, it still doesn't fix things.
This lack of a good option problem has inspired me to try Google Chrome. The good news is after a few days of using it I have no crashes, no router hangs and it has worked with every web site I have tried it with. It also feels pretty comfortable. That is, it does what I expect.
While I am not yet sure that it is the ultimate browser for me, it is doing well. If you are unhappy with the browser you are using, it is well worth a try.
