Real Recycling
11 December, 2009 - 19:27 | by fylI have written about this before, probably in http://www.NicaLiving.com but it needs to be said a few more times. For you usanos, you most likely associate the word recycle with a government-mandated program. Well, there is really a lot more or, well, actually, a lot less to it. It took my move to Nicaragua to understand the real meaning.
Help Should Work Both Ways
14 November, 2009 - 09:52 | by fylThe Peace Corps was created by the U.S. to bring help to countries less fortunate. Clearly it has done that to many people all over the world. For example, I have a friend who brought Tilapia farming to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica almost 30 years ago. On the other side, the volunteers learn about other cultures, other places and other people and bring that knowledge back with them. Or, in the case of my friend, what she found in Costa Rica inspired her to stay.
