Still Mad at Jimmy
While it isn't totally Jimmy's fault that the U.S. never really went to the metric system (details available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication_in_the_United_States ) the real problem was that he was an honest man, not a politician. He said, probably in 1976, that the U.S. would be on the metric system by 1978. I believed him. I converted myself to the metric system.
Well, I guess one advantage was that as I only have metric tools, I am not going to buy any U.S.-made cars. That is, if there are any. I assume all the "fake U.S. cars" like the Geo or, I guess, it is now a Chevrolet are metric. I mean, Suzuki is not going to make a non-metric car for GM and a metric one for everyone else.
In any case, I guess I am one to hold a grudge but it because, every day, I get into a metric/non-metric conflict. For example, today I posted a comment on Facebook. The post was by a friend in the U.S. My comment included a distance—:in kilometers. As I am already mad at Obama anyway, maybe he can fix this one thing that Jimmy failed to do.
