Selling Snake Oil

Both here and in http://www.NicaLiving.com I keep seeing what I would call modern snake oil ads a lot more of the time than I like. They are not tonics and such but all too many have to do with Alternative Energy. And they are probably less useful than snake oil.

A lot of them are about a book or guide, delivered electronically that will allow you to cut your electricity bill in half for only a $200 investment or some similar scheme. The content seems to be a combination of nice looking information that ultimately amounts to you needing to invest $200 in something plus $10,000 in the rest of the system.

Frankly, I'm disappointed. I live off-grid and know what it takes. I also am writing a book on that but it seems like it will be hard to get someone to buy my book if I tell people they need $10,000 and the snake oil salesmen say it is only $200. Besides costing me sales, it just undermines the credibility of Alternative Energy solutions.
